# Is first contact

This tool checks if, upon a run of the pipeline, if this is the first time the participant in the conversation has been contacted.

If `Post outbound` parameter is true, this will ignore any outbound message sent from Clerk Chat user side, and return true if it is the first inbound message the customer has sent.

If `Post outbound` is false, this will only return true when the customer is messaging inbound for the first time.
